Ellen Bruxvoort
FIBROUS uses natural materials to make textural fiber art for interior spaces.
Ellen studied graphic design and advertising in college, but ultimately left school in 2014 to work on an organic produce farm in Hawaii. When Ellen returned from the farm later that year, she picked up weaving as a tactile creative outlet and pursued it for 3 years before making it her full-time job.
Although mostly self-taught, Ellen has also been guided by various mentors and lived with a small family in rural Peru. In 2015, she traded English lessons to roughly 20 kids every morning in exchange for a peek into the family's traditional weaving and dyeing practices.
Today, Ellen works in her home studio creating custom art and installations for interior spaces, both residential and commercial. Though no longer physically in the space, she remains involved with Broad Studios through markets and event planning.
